#HarvestGathering

By Jamie • Uncategorized • 6 Oct 2015

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Harvest Gathering in Tabernash, Colorado. It was recommended to me to apply from a colleague of mine- I was told it was a gathering/conference for professionals in the sustainable/conscious food world. I applied, got accepted, and anticipated the arrival of the event. All I can say is that any expectations I had going into it were greatly exceeded. The 48 hours I spent with these sixty-ish individuals left me inspired, excited, and hopeful. I learned so much, spent some much appreciated time in reflection, and made so many new friends. Here is a snapshot of what the gathering looked like…

We heard from cookbook author and Jewish food authority Joan Nathan, Slow Money founder Woody Tasch, Renegade Lunch Lady Chef Ann of the Chef Ann Foundation, and Zingerman’s Ari Weinzweig.

We enjoyed a 5 course sustainable seafood meal prepared by 5 chef attendees. Each paired with a wine.

A beautiful view with color changing Aspen trees.

A catered breakfast by Rosenberg’s deli in Denver.

Ari Weinzweig below- reading some quotes to educate, provoke, and inspire with a beautiful mountain backdrop.

A mid day break for a brisk and breathtaking hike through the Aspen groves.

A dinner prepared by Josea Rosenberg (Top Chef winner) and owner of BlackBelly.

A Kosher, Humane animal slaughtering.

A cooking with cannabis demo.

The menu.

A beautiful sunset over Lake Granby.

Learning to fly fish.Time for reflection.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible! I am so, so grateful for the experience.
